TESTING and RESULT
LANAFORM SLIMMING SHORT
Cellulite is described as a physiological state commonly encountered in women of childbearing age and consisting of accumulation of water in the extracellular matrix caused by deterioration of lymphatic drainage accompanied by storage of fat in subcutaneous adipose cells. This phenomenon is independent of the process causing obesity. It is encountered primarily in the lower limbs and the lower abdomen.
The hypothesis has been advanced that localised hyperaemia (increased subcutaneous vascularisation) could reduce the occurrence of cellulite. This is why Lanaform offers a belt with the property of inducing local hyperaemia;
The objective of this study is to evaluate:
1) the effect of the slimming shorts on the increase in skin temperature encouraging the elimination and prevention of cellulite factors when walking at speeds from very slow to fast during the day.
2) the effect of wearing the slimming shorts 8 hours a day for 28 days on the reduction of the circumference of the thigh and the skinfold thickness of the anterior and posterior face of the thigh.
Test Condition
Objective: To study the effect of wearing the Lanaform slimming shorts on cardio-respiratory parameters (elimination of calories) and metabolic parameters (use of fats and sugars from the organism) (acute effect), as well as modifications of the volumes and the skinfold thickness of the thighs (chronic effects after wearing the slimming shorts 8 hours a day for 28 days).
Test 1: The effect of the slimming shorts on the increase in skin temperature encouraging the elimination and prevention of cellulite factors when walking at speeds from very slow to fast during the day.
Type of test: The subjects performed a walking exercise on a treadmill wearing successively a Lanaform garment and a conventional sports outfit.
Product under test: Lanaform slimming shorts
Mode of use: Garment to be worn during a physical activity.
Test 2: The effect of wearing the slimming shorts 8 hours a day for 28 days on the reduction of the circumference of the thigh and the skinfold thickness of the anterior and posterior face of the thigh.
The thigh circumference is measured using an anthropometric tape measure, the anterior and posterior skinfold thickness is measured using an Eppendorf caliper.
Characteristics of the volunteers: 10 women (mean age: 37 years) participated in the study. The number of subjects is sufficient given the standard deviation and the alpha risk = 5%.
Measurements and Instruments
Objective evaluations: At intervals of 28 days, the subjects performed in random order three sessions of walking for 20 minutes on a treadmill wearing respectively a conventional sports outfit and the Lanaform slimming shorts. The cutaneous temperature was measured at the thighs. The heart rate was recorded continuously. Respiratory gas exchanges were measured during the exercise and consumption of glucides and lipids derived therefrom.
Between these two tests, intended to demonstrate acutely the increase in temperature and muscular vascularisation for a number of levels of activity, corresponding to those of a day at work and moving around, the subjects wore the slimming shorts for 28 days, 8 consecutive hours per day (up to I0 hours per day according to the working hours of the subjects).
After these 28 days the subjects' thigh circumference reductions were measured.
Results
Objective efficacy:
1) The effect of the slimming shorts on the increase in skin temperature encouraging the elimination and prevention of cellulite factors when walking at speeds from very slow to fast during the day.
- Wearing a Lanaform garment improves cutaneous vascularisation by increasing the temperature locally, which encourages the prevention and attenuation of cellulite (by up to + 22%).
- The Lanaform garments significantly increase skin temperature (by up to + 16%) during walking compared to the same exercise performed in a sports outfit.
- The temperature at the thighs was higher when wearing the slimming shorts (by up to + 23%).
2) The effect of wearing the slimming shorts for 28 days, 8 hours a day, on the reduction of the circumference of the thigh and the skinfold thickness of the anterior and posterior face of the thigh.
- Wearing a Lanaforrn garment reduces the thigh circumference by up to -7 cm
- Wearing a Lanaform garment reduces the skinfold thickness of the thigh by up to - 15% (posterior and anterior face)
Subjective efficacy:
- "Orange-peel appearance of thighs is reduced" (7 1 % agreed)
- "The skin of the thighs is firmer" (76% agreed)
- "The skin of the thighs is softer" (90% agreed)
- "The skin of the thighs is more flexible" (88% agreed)
- "The skin of the thighs is toned" (69% agreed)
- "Your silhouette is slimmer" (67% agreed)
- "The girdle is easy to maintain" (76% agreed)
- "Overall, are you satisfied with the girdle you tested, where the appearance of the skin is concerned? (orange peel)" (76% say yes)
- "Overall, are you satisfied with the girdle you tested, its ease of use?" (7 1 % say yes)
Conclusion
1) The positive subjective effects of these garments can be attributed to the massaging effect and to local hyperaemia limiting water retention.
2) The hyperaemia is localised to the area covered by the garment, and this increase of the local temperature is observed equally with the slimming shorts and with the belt.
3) Wearing the Lanaform garments increases the effects of walking by improving blood circulation.
